Resources for Nonprofit Organizations and Trade Associations

Accept Donations on Your Website and More

Network for Good, an independent, 501(c)(3) organization, was founded by the AOL Time Warner Foundation and AOL, Inc.; the Cisco Foundation and Cisco Systems, Inc.; and Yahoo! Inc., in partnership with over 20 nonprofit foundations and associations. Network for Good aggregates content and resources from these leaders, organizes them and makes them available in one comprehensive, easy-to-use destination, which also helps to expand the reach, effectiveness and pervasiveness of all of Network for Good's nonprofit partners.

Network for Good is the first coalition of its kind to help nonprofit organizations become more effective and efficient. Network for Good will help them further their mission by integrating the full power of the online medium into their own operations such as fundraising, recruitment and advocacy. This new ePhilanthropy portal also incorporates many of the tools and resources of Helping.org, which pioneered online giving and volunteering. Helping.org (previously listed in this space as the primary resource for nonprofits) was used as a foundation to build the Network for Good Web site.

"Bridging the Gap between Non-Profit and Open Source"

The SQL Clinic Complete Intranet Solution features: Administrative Tools; Built In DBA Utilities; Complete Clinical Chart; Documentation; Email Alerts; Reports and Reminders; Intake and Placement Tracking; Integrated DSM IV; Quality Assurance Instruments; Purchase Orders; Unit (Shift) Logs; and Work Orders

The site notes: "Open Source Software is computer software that is made available free of restrictions on use or modification, and at no cost, to anyone who wants it. The developers of free software get satisfaction by providing a service to other people. This is the philosophical basis for the SQL Clinic Project.

"SQL Clinic Developers design software for the non-profit sector, in particular, social service agencies that serve persons in need. We design Open Source, or Free, Software because we feel the idea of 'intellectual property' has no place in the public sector. 'Intellectual Property' fosters competition over cooperation. We feel that cooperation, more than competition, benefits software with a social service mission."

Service Bureaus that don't cringe at PC files

PubCom knows that a number of our DC-based nonprofit organizations have difficulty finding service bureaus to output their work, either because they're using Windows-based systems and/or non-standard software (like Microsoft Publisher) to complete publications, reports, technical documents, etc. We've found some metropolitan-DC area printers and service bureaus who can handle the challenge — check out the results of our survey.
