Photoshop Intermediate — Image Editing and Color Correction Techniques

Master Class with BeviIn this two-day concentrated Master Class with Bevi Chagnon, you'll learn many ways to fix, correct, and improve photos. This class is right on target for web developers, print designers, and amateur photographers.

Topics include:

  • Using different color modes for color correction (LAB color, CMYK and RGB).
  • Adjustment curves.
  • Appropriate numbers for accurate color.
  • Adjusting white balance.
  • Color correcting portraits, skintones, and landscapes.
  • Painting with light.
  • Using Camera RAW.
  • Sharpening techniques.

Many of these techniques are based on Bevi's training, professional experience, and books by Dan Margulis, the world's leading guru for prepress and color correction whom Bevi's pays homage to every time she launches Photoshop. <grin>

This is an intermediate-level class that focuses ONLY only on color correction and editing techniques. You don't need to be a guru, but you must be at least familiar with Photoshop's basic tools is required (selections, masks, layers, and channels).

Bring your special photos to class and work on them during the extended lab time, 4 to 5 pm.

Photoshop Basics — Level 1

This course is for graphic designers and web developers who want to begin their mastery of Photoshop's many tools and features and venture into more creative uses of this powerful program.

Learn to use selection tools, color correct photos, edit images, create montages, use layer effects, understand transparency, set resolution and color modes, export for high-resolution print, and export for the web — all the basics to get you started! Bevi also includes many of her favorite "tricks" for fixing less-than-perfect photos.

Web developers and designers with little experience in graphics programs will be right at home in this class.

We'll cover the essentials of taking existing graphics — such as photos, logos, pie charts, and illustrations — and preparing them for the web. Sizing, cropping, and optimizing graphics will also be covered, as well as the technical differences between graphic file formats and resolution. Bevi also includes many of her favorite "tricks" for fixing less-than-perfect graphics.

Desktop publishers with little experience in graphics programs will be right at home in this class.

We'll cover the essentials of preparing and optimizing existing photos for press-quality publications. Sizing, cropping, resolution requirements, ink-density/coverage, and graphic file formats will be covered, as well as minor color correction techniques for those less-than-perfect photos you get. Bevi also includes guidelines for handling digital camera files.

Extended Lab Time

PubCom's hands-on computer classes include self-paced practice time after class, from 4 - 5pm.
